How does the Advanced Red7 draw bonus work?
The designer's playtest rulings and the rulebook's Advanced rule define the draw and how to count the Palette.

When you discard a card to the Canvas whose number is higher than the number of cards in your Palette, you may draw one extra card (if the deck isn't empty). Count your Palette as it is when you discard, including the card you played earlier in the turn. Equal numbers don't draw. Discarding a lower card is allowed, you just don't draw. The draw can't rescue a turn: you must already be winning.
