How are nobles put on the colonist ship?
The rulebook states this directly, and forum players agree.

At the start and after each Mayor phase put one noble on the ship instead of one colonist, as long as nobles remain in the supply. Nobles are taken from the ship like colonists, usually by the Mayor.
