Do I keep the ruler token if my only tribe in the region is removed?
The designer addressed this directly in 2019, consistent with the rulebook.

No. Ruling needs at least one tribe, so losing your last tribe loses the token. It also triggers the Overthrow Rule, discarding your political cards of that region. Losing rule only because enemy armies outnumber you removes neither tribes nor cards.
