If a leveraged card is discarded for the court limit, can the leverage payment come from other cards I'm discarding?

Yes. Discard one card at a time; paying a leveraged card's two rupees happens as soon as it leaves, and each rupee you can't pay costs you a card from hand or court. Those can be cards you were going to lose anyway, and you stop once you are within the limit.
