Can I point at the center, at myself, or not point when voting?
The designer answered this in 2015 and the rulebook says each player points at another player.

No. Everyone must point at another player. The designer explicitly says you cannot point at yourself, the middle, or up; pointing at the center is a common house rule that he considers one of the worst, though groups may use it. To avoid any death, players coordinate a circle vote so nobody receives more than one vote.
