Can I overpay a skill cost, and what about mana costs paid with several dice?
The rulebook says magic dice values must add up to at least the cost.

Yes — the cost is a minimum, so overpaying is allowed but the extra is wasted. Spells must be paid with magic dice (or heroic dice) whose total meets the mana cost, which can be several dice; one pool of mana cannot be split across two spells.
