Does the base game contain the Wessex (or other) family components, or are the family boxes just empty storage?
The designer explained in 2022 and 2025 that the base-game house boxes are storage and the rest of each house is in an expansion.

The family boxes in the base game are storage only. Each house's own components (cards, tiles, family board) come with its expansion, so Wessex parts are in the Wessex expansion. An older designer reply (2021) said the Wessex box held cards and tiles, but his later replies corrected that.
