Can I use a VP card's favour at the end, just before final scoring?
The rulebook says the favour can be taken any time until end-game scoring begins.

Yes, by giving up its VP. A VP card can be turned in for its favour at any time during your turn, right up to the start of end-game scoring, which may be worth more if it lifts your reputation to a higher level.
