How does the Upstairs, Downstairs servant draft work?
The expansion rulebook and the designer agree on the draft and its purpose.
Always use the draft when playing with the new servants. Each player starts with one more servant than in the base game, and the expansion's central setup replaces the base page-10 population. The expansion rulebook starts the draft with the player to the left of the first player, going clockwise, to compensate the player who never goes first; the designer's later preference is the snake draft from the Characters expansion.
