Do I get the Max reputation tile (28 VP) as soon as I reach reputation 6?
The rulebook says the tile is deployed when a player exceeds level 6, and the designer confirmed the reading.

No. The Max tile is deployed only when reputation exceeds 6, that is, when you go all the way around level 6 into level 7. In an extended game it is deployed after exceeding 8. Reputation bonuses never skip a level.
