Can Shield Block prevent damage when I defend with an ally or in alter-ego form?

Shield Block only prevents damage you actually take as the player. In alter-ego form it works if the attack targets you. If an ally absorbs the attack and no damage reaches you, it cannot be used. If overkill or leftover damage reaches you, it can be.
