Do Magnet counters on the scheme count toward Electric Shock's damage, or are they removed first?

The three magnet counters on the scheme are removed before the revealed magnetic card resolves, so Electric Shock does not count them toward its damage. The designer's FAQ reply, as quoted in the thread, says so.
