Can I buy a black die and use it on the same turn?
The rulebook says to roll it immediately and add it to your dice.

Yes. Roll it immediately and it joins your dice. Bought before your main action, it can serve as that action's die. Bought afterwards, it can still go on the Take 3 Coins bag, or wait for your next turn.
