Maracaibo
Do assistants stay on the board, and can I take them back?
The publisher confirmed they cannot be taken away; other players confirm they remain after use.

They stay. An assistant remains at its location for the rest of the game and can be used again each time you stop there. Once placed, it cannot be taken away or fired to free up a figure.
