If I don't defend an attack, who takes the damage?
The rulebook's attack steps say undefended damage goes to a single hero of the active player's choice.

You may let any attack go undefended. All the damage then goes to a single hero you control, your choice. Allies can't take undefended damage and no defense reduces it. Defending is optional, never forced.
