What happens when my player deck runs out of cards?
The rulebook's running-out-of-cards rule says exactly this.

You keep playing with the cards you have in hand and in play; you do not reshuffle your discard pile and you simply don't draw. Only the encounter deck reshuffles when it empties (during the quest phase).
