For 5-6 players you take 5 or 6 survivors on a hunt; monsters gain +2 damage and +1 speed tokens and the Life trait (2 + monster level extra wounds), and you gain no extra rewards for defeating them (a Level 1 Lion still gives its normal resources). Other variants in the rulebook are Quick Mode, Hero Mode, Death Mode (all gear irreplaceable, 3 bleeding tokens kills), Storyteller Mode and Solo Play.
