What happens to a survivor's resources and gear when they die during a showdown?

A dead survivor's gear returns to settlement storage (irreplaceable gear is archived instead), and this still holds after a total party kill, when every survivor's gear comes back but the resources they carried are lost. Otherwise resources a dead survivor carried stay with the group if the survivors win. Resources can be traded between survivors during the showdown, but gear cannot be traded in combat.
