Can a survivor surge in the middle of another survivor's attack?

Yes — when the attacker is paused at one of the two survival windows (after a wound roll but before the monster's reaction, or after a critical wound's effects), another survivor may surge. The surge is its own attack with its own hit location draws; it resolves completely, and then the interrupted attack resumes from where it stopped, even if positions changed. Pending reactions continue from the monster's new position, unless a knockdown or kill cancelled them.
