How does Overwhelming Darkness work on the hunt board: can it be skipped, and what if survivors enter it again?

It can't be skipped: the first time survivors move into or through it in a hunt, hunt movement stops and the story event resolves before any other event or effect on that space. Later entries in the same hunt treat it as a blank space, so a hunt event is rolled. If the survivors move into the monster's space, the showdown starts immediately without resolving events there; the community reads this to include the Overwhelming Darkness space too, citing the living glossary.
