Every blank hunt space gets a basic hunt card, and the monster's own hunt card goes where the diagram marks it. The diagram sits in that monster's Showdown story event and covers each monster level. The quarry stays put unless an event moves it, and higher-level monsters start further along the track. A hunt event lying on the monster's space is ignored when survivors land there.
