What does it take to control a temple and keep its temporary VP?
The rulebook states it directly.

At least one of your units on the temple at the end of a battle or movement. When no unit of yours remains, the temporary VP goes back. If both sides are wiped out there, nobody controls it. The Sanctuary of All Gods is not a temple.
