Can I raise my own pyramid while an enemy troop controls it?
The rulebook says the owner loses a controlled pyramid's benefits, and several players read that as meaning you cannot raise it.

No, according to most players. While an opponent controls your pyramid you lose all its benefits, so you must retake it first.
