How long do local alliances last, and can they be bought to defend in Events in India?
The rulebook says each is used once on the turn bought; players confirm the defence timing.

A local alliance is used once, on the turn it is bought, then ends whether or not it was exhausted. It is bought during the Commander's action, so to use one for defence you buy it then and keep it unused; you can't buy during Events.
