Does an Accident icon on a die make a dice check fail or stop it from counting as its colour?
Several players agree and no official ruling contradicts it.

No. An accident only has an effect when the check or a global condition shows one. A die showing an accident still counts as its colour, but accident faces can never be spent on Dice Combinations.
