Your hand counts as part of your score pile for the card's effects: each hand card adds its value to score, you can meld from them as if from your hand, and when a Database-style demand has you return half your cards, hand and score pile are counted together. When an exchange of hand and score pile (Bicycle) resolves, the designer says the score pile moves into your hand and cards counted in both places stay put.
