What happens to an Advantage card discarded for an effect, and can I view face-down ones in Amergin's Call?

A discarded Advantage card is turned face down and cannot be used again that Season. Since the Advantage cards are open information, with distinctive backs, you can read the face-down ones when Amergin Gluingel's Call asks you to choose, though a strict group may expect players to remember them.
