When Welcoming's profit reveals only cards you cannot legally play, must you free play one anyway?

Per the designer, the literal reading applies: you may not choose a card you cannot legally play, so you must free play a legal card even if you do not want it. A card whose text cannot be resolved cannot be chosen (page 14).
