When breaking through from a Small deck, is the card you take shown to the other players?
A designer post addresses this directly. It also matches the rulebook text.

No. A breakthrough from a face-down Small deck is not revealed, since the card is guaranteed to be the right suit. You may take it even when a face-up card of that type is visible. Breaking through from the main deck does reveal the cards passed.
