Does the Martian bot count as playing a gadget when it resolves one, so that Sharing Our Secrets triggers?

Yes. In effect the bot plays a gadget when it resolves one, so the Martian player can trigger Sharing Our Secrets. Technically the bot does not play cards, but the designer's ruling is that it counts.
