Can I use an exhaust ability that is triggered by the card I am playing to pay that card's cost (Longships and Jomsviking)?

No. You must pay a card's cost to play it, and an ability that only triggers once the card has been played, such as Longships on a sword card, resolves after that payment, so its materials come too late for the same card. Resources gained earlier in the turn, or by an exhaust ability that does not depend on playing that card, can pay. The designers first suggested the opposite in 2021, then ruled this way in 2022 and 2024.
