Yes. A card that refers to a company with the Machinery icon counts both Automated companies and companies with a Machinery token, so Exit Strategy cannot sell an Automated company. Automated companies need no token and no workers: they are always operational. A company with a Machinery token is still not automated and needs its workers to be operational.
