Can you give a clue saying a player has zero cards of a colour or number?
The German publisher confirmed it, while the R&R rulebook takes the opposite position.

It depends on the edition. The German (Abacusspiele) rules allow it, and the publisher said the designer's answer was yes. The American R&R rulebook forbids it because you must point at the cards you are clueing. Follow the rules printed in your copy.
