Does firing happen before salaries at Payday, and in what order do players fire?
The designer confirmed the order and who goes first, and the rulebook's Payday phase puts firing first.

Firing comes first, then salaries are paid, so a card you fire (even an HR Director) no longer gives its discount that Payday. Players fire in normal turn order; reverse order is used only for initial restaurant placement.
