Must I take three cards with the Mummy, even from other players' decks?
The rulebook states this plainly.

Yes. You must take three cards while any remain across the decks, taking each from any player's deck and choosing after each draw. Taking fewer is only an optional house rule. If fewer than three remain, take what is left.
