How far can a Legion attack using Troop-transport or Sandriding, and does it count as a move or an attack?

The target must be within 2 areas, with one area between the two Legions; the attacker stays put during the battle and advances only if it wins. Extended range does not change the action type: a card or die that says move lets you move, one that says attack lets you attack. Troop-transport cannot be used to move two areas and then attack a third area away.
