How and when can Hawat's Scheming cards be discarded?

Only in groups of two or three, as a free action before or after a die, and only to remove Thufir Hawat (after he is in play) and bring in Gaius Helen Mohiam. They cannot be discarded one at a time or for any other purpose. Once Thufir is gone, a leftover third Scheming card stays in hand and cannot be discarded.
