What if I Remodel and no card is left to gain?
The rulebook says to do as much as you can and the game ends only at end of turn; the designer confirmed this exact case.

You still trash the card and gain nothing, because you do as much as you can. Piles can run out mid-turn, as the game only ends at end of turn.
