What is the caravan card limit, and do Wanderers items count?
The 12-card limit is in the rulebook; the item exemption rests on a player relaying a playtester.

A caravan holds at most 12 cards unless a card effect changes that, and your hand has no limit. Players report that Wanderers items attached to creatures are not counted toward the 12.
