When can I use a normal card I just bought from the Dungeon Row?
The rulebook sends acquired cards to the discard pile.

Not directly. A bought card goes to your discard pile and only becomes playable after your discard pile is shuffled into a new deck and you draw it (normally a later turn). Devices are the exception (used immediately), and Dungeon Row monsters are fought, not bought, and go to the Dungeon discard.
