Can I enter Medusa's Lair, take the 2 damage and claim the artifact without fighting her?
Yes. If you enter and don't fight her you take 2 damage, and you may still take the artifact there. Fighting her needs a Secret Tome (or Tome of Fire) and two swords; a Tome played earlier the same turn counts. Defeating her gives the trophy and two cards.
