Does the Sea Serpent count as a ship for ship upgrades and free ship invades?
Several players agree.

Yes. The Sea Serpent is a monster that also counts as a ship, so it benefits from ship upgrades and you may invade with it for free when you play a ship upgrade (choosing it instead of your ordinary ship).
