Can you invade Yggdrasil directly?
The rulebook says Invade targets outer provinces and that March is usually the only way into Yggdrasil.

Not with the normal Invade action. Invading is limited to the outer provinces (and fjords for ships), so figures reach Yggdrasil by March. A few card abilities, such as the Dark Elf, carry their own exception.
